ARCADY

ARCADY refers to the Greek vision of a pastoralism and harmony with nature. ARCADY was a dance exploring the bodies’ relationship to the notion of this natural utopia. Made in the presence of the natural world it aimed to present a sense of the divinity and power of unspoiled wilderness.

The 7 Minute dance was choreographed by Alexander in collaboration with two female dancer from York St John University who performed the dance, Courtney Leigh Ramsden & Jasmine Cash. Alexander also collaborated with the artist Hannah Cash on the construction of a film of the dance.

The dance was made & filmed in the Peak District and was performed on the main stage of The York Theatre Royal as part of the 'Dance It Up North' festival. This also included a viewing of the film.
