2018 MARIA - MEDEA

A contemporary opera, of Euripides’s Medea, exploring the life and love of the opera singer Maria Callas. Maria’s life having huge similarities to that of Medea’s. Working with a musical composer and a cast of five performers and seven musicians the performance will explore the medium of opera and attempt to redefine it. It will use operas structures and traditions, explored through more contemporary ideas of movement, gesture and voice. It will be performed as part of York Theatre Royal’s literature festival on the 15 March 2018 before touring to further venues.
